RICHMOND STREET COMPLETE STREETS SURVEY OPEN UNTIL SEPT. 22: A community workshop was held for the Richmond Street Complete Streets Improvement Project on Sept. 12, and another is scheduled for Nov. 21, 6–7:30 p.m., in city council chambers, 10890 San Pablo Ave. Richmond Street is a designated bikeway for El Cerrito, which is currently marked with sharrows. Current planning for Complete Streets on Richmond Street does not include bike lanes. EC/RA Walk & Roll strongly requests that a dedicated bike facility be added to the concept designs as one of the possible alternatives under consideration. The project consultants have posted a community survey, which will be open until Sept. 22, which includes the opportunity to provide feedback about all intersections along Richmond Street. BUSINESS MEETING, Oct. 16, 7–8 p.m.: Our next business meeting is Oct. 16, 7–8 p.m., on Zoom. Jessie Maran, project manager with CSW/Stuber-Stroeh Engineering Group, will provide an update on the Richmond Complete Streets planning process, plus we will discuss Safe Routes to School and the work plan. 2024 MEETING AND HAPPY HOUR SCHEDULE Happy hours, Wednesdays, 5–7 p.m.: September 18, Fatapples, 7525 Fairmount Ave. @ Colusa November 20, Banter Wine, 10368 San Pablo Ave. @ Stockton December 15 (Sunday), Super-Fun Holiday Party, location TBA Business meetings, third Wednesdays, 7–8 p.m. on Zoom: October 16 December 18 PROUD E-BIKE OWNER? VOLUNTEER AT BERKELEY’S 7TH ANNUAL RIDE ELECTRIC EVENT: On Saturday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m.–4 p.m., Berkeley will host its 7th Annual Ride Electric event in conjunction with the Berkeley Harvest Festival (family friendly, food, crafts, music, etc.) near North Berkeley BART. El Cerrito's Environmental Quality Committee is a community partner for this event. The event organizer, El Cerrito’s own Rebecca Milliken, is looking for e-bike riders who can ride over and talk to attendees about their experience and showcase their bikes. The day will be split into two shifts, but e-bike ambassadors are welcome any time. Please sign up here to volunteer and Rebecca will follow up October closer to the event.
