California considers regulation of E-bikes

Eight e-bike bills are currently making their way through the California state legislature. Keeping track of them all, understanding their relative value and potential impacts is a challenge.

Bike East Bay has collected the following resources to help you stay informed:

Say no to mandatory e-bike license plates and registration: Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, representing central Contra Costa and eastern Alameda counties in Assembly District 16, has introduced the “E-Bike Accountability Act” (AB 1942). Learn more and sign Bike East Bay’s petition opposing mandatory e-bike registration.

Bay Area Bike Coalitions Op-Ed: Don't Let Fear Flatten Progress: Bike East Bay collaborated with the Silicon Valley, San Francisco, and Marin County bike coalitions on a position statement to help put current e-bike/e-moto issues in context, and identify solutions that will promote safe streets and bike-friendly communities.
